Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
TopMarks Pocket Tutor ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by TopMarks Pocket Tutor.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide better services to all our users.
Account Information: When you register, we store your email address via Supabase to authenticate your user account.
Usage and learning data: We process the topics you revise, attempts, scores, progress, interaction events, and device/app diagnostics. Account-linked activity is not anonymous simply because it does not contain your name.
Purchase History: We track your subscription status (Free/Pro) to unlock premium features.
User-generated content: Depending on the feature you choose, this can include exam answers, essays, tutor-chat messages and context, photographed homework, uploaded images, spoken transcripts, audio/voice activity, tutor notes, and generated feedback.
3. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to operate our app. These services may collect or process data on our behalf:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Marking Partners: We use a third-party Artificial Intelligence service, OpenAI, to provide optional tutoring, image guidance, voice features, content generation, and estimated rubric feedback. The content needed for the chosen feature—such as text, an image, a transcript, or relevant conversation context—is sent for processing. We do not intentionally include your account email or password in those requests, and you should not put personal information into a prompt or image. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default. Provider retention and international processing are governed by our service arrangements and the provider's applicable terms.
RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may collect anonymous App User IDs and purchase receipts to validate your subscription status. We do not share your personal name or physical address with RevenueCat.
Supabase: We use Supabase for authentication and database services. Your email address and secure login credentials are stored on Supabase's secure servers.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our app.
- Provide automated grading and examiner-style feedback on your submitted work using AI.
- Process your transactions and manage your subscription.
- Improve, personalize, and expand our app's content.
5. Optional AI and children
AI features are optional. A learner can decline or withdraw the AI choice in Profile Settings and continue using non-AI lessons and quizzes. AI feedback can be incomplete or wrong; it is an estimate, not an official examiner grade or a substitute for a teacher. A parent or guardian should help a child understand this notice where appropriate for their age.
6. Retention, deletion, and your choices
We keep personal data only for as long as needed to operate the account, provide the feature, meet legal or accounting duties, prevent fraud, and resolve support or security incidents. You can initiate full account deletion inside the app. You can also use our deletion page to request deletion of an account, uploaded content, or selected app data. Store subscriptions must be cancelled separately through Apple or Google.
